Elżanowski & Partners advised Lafarge Cement on two PPAs with KGAL

Lafarge Cement S.A., as a buyer, has entered into two PPAs – long term contracts for the sale of electricity from renewable energy sources, with the KGAL Group. Lafarge Cement S.A. was advised in the process of negotiating the PPAs by lawyers from Elżanowski & Partners: Filip Elżanowski, Anna Kucińska and Zuzanna Stachurska.

Lafarge Cement S.A. is part of the global Holcim Group – the world’s leading manufacturer of construction materials. Lafarge has been present in Poland for almost 30 years and has nearly 50 plants across the country. Lafarge Cement S.A. is engaged in the production of cement, aggregates and concreto. In conducting its production activities, the company implements a policy of sustainable development.

KGAL is a German capital group that manages investments and assets, mainly in the areas of real estate, aviation and RES. KGAL has been investing in renewable energy sources since 2003 and currently owns, among other things, 60 wind farms in Europe with a total installed capacity of 900 MW – some of which are located in Poland.

Under the concluded PPAs, Lafarge Cement S.A. will purchase electricity from two wind farms owned by the KGAL Group. The total volume of green energy to be supplied by KGAL member companies to Lafarge is about 230 GWh per year. The conclusion of another PPA brings Lafarge closer to realizing one of the goals of Lafarge’s sustainable development strategy in Poland, which is to acquire 100% green energy by 2030.
